Discover the cycling route of liberation in Heeze, Leende and Sterksel
This unique cycle route takes you past stories and memories from the time of the liberation in Heeze, Leende and Sterksel. Over a distance of about 50 kilometres, you cycle past 29 numbered locations, each with its own history. Along the way, you can enjoy several terraces where you can go for a snack and/or drink. At each landmark, you will find a QR code with which you can discover the corresponding stories.
During the route, you will pass special places such as Huisvenseweg 14 in Heeze, which was a hiding place for people in hiding at the time. Also included are the locations of two emergency landings on the Valkenswaardseweg in Leende and the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Sterksel. This route is not tied to a specific day; it remains available to cycle at any time!
It was not possible to place markers at four locations because they are too general or are located in protected nature reserves:
– Point 5 (Airplane crashes)
– Point 6 (Ammunition depot Strabrechtse Heide)
– Point 14 (Radar station Heerstraat)
– Point 16 (Heezerenbosch)
